Every year pantone releases its color of the year, and this year we were in for a treat as two hues—serenity and rose quartz—made it to the top spots. I’ve been looking forward to sporting these colors since winter, and now that it’s spring it’s easier to style these pretty hues into your outfit.
Serenity is a quiet, tranquil, sky blue. It’s calming, comforting, and a flattering color for everyone. A pastel sundress, a pair of light-wash denim shorts, or a loose blouse are all articles of clothing that stun in this color. Pairing it with white or cream is a match made in heaven.
Rose quartz is a dreamy, cotton candy pink. It’s romantic, classy, and gives off a feminine feel. A button-down shirt, a pair of creamy rose heels, or a pink high-waisted skirt are a few ways to completely embody this lovely color.
It’s also possible to implement these colors into your lifestyle too. I’m in love with this calendar from paper source. It’s minimalist and basically my own mini collection of paint colors. candles, blankets, and pieces of art are some other beautiful ways to incorporate the tones.
Pantone describes the colors as such: “Rose quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.” These colors are not only pretty to wear, but they are visually and psychologically pleasing to view.
I created two outfits centered around my style and the colors. I wanted to stick with neutral, minimal tones, but I switched my style up a bit by leaning toward more of a preppy look.
I stole my boyfriend’s button-up top and simply rolled the sleeves and tied the bottom to make it fit. Sometimes your significant other, friends, or family have the best things in their closet, and hey, they never have to know it went missing. I thought white pants would be a pretty complement to the light blue, and I decided to keep things neutral with my shoes.
I used a slouchy, dusty rose tee to embody the rose quartz vibe. I like the necklace overtop because it’s a similar color, but it still stands out and gives me an extra dimension to my outfit.
Try styling these colors this spring and summer and see what awesome combos you can think of. Pantone’s website is also super inspirational when it comes to fashion, and sometimes it’s just fun to play around and look at all the colors. I promise that you can’t lose with serenity and rose quartz, no matter what your style is.
