Not-so-basic Spring Essentials

Spring is here for the most part, and although that usually means sunny, warm days, we aren’t always so lucky. But nevertheless, I think it’s important to start transitioning your closet to how you want to reflect yourself for spring.

Pastels and florals are (painfully) overdone, and while we can toss in a pair of floral sunnies or a pastel tee there are a few other good things to have this season.

Floppy hats: I love hats and I think they’re such a fun way to spice up your outfit. It doesn’t have to be some fabulous, boutique find, but a cool cap usually makes your look 10x radder.

Dark lipstick: coral, pastels, and bright colors are kind of a given for spring. I’m still obsessed with my vampy lip sticks from fall, so sometimes it can be fun to throw in some neutrals or jewel tones.

Polaroid camera: I can’t think of a better way to capture moments and adventures with friends. Camera phones are nice, but leaving those behind for a quick run around PDX or to the beach screams fun.

Sweaters: Oregon enjoys being cold up until July basically (I might be exaggerating a little), so sweaters can stand in place for our trusty puffy coats. I’m also mildly obsessed with how shorts and sweaters look together so try that too.

Backpack-bag lovechild: I LOVE these. it’s perfect for any kind of music festival, shopping adventure, street style shoot, or beach trip. it’s as classy as a purse, but as versatile as a backpack, and I will forever be grateful to the person who invented this lovechild.
