meet the team part II

Libby

As mentioned in my previous post, I want to make a point to introduce you all to the newest members of our team as we relaunch V+V! A few weeks ago I stumbled across the following quote: “Behind every successful woman is a tribe of other successful women who have her back.” I am truly the luckiest to be working with the amazing, brilliant women you all are going to meet this week!

Today I’m introducing Melissa Epifano. She is bright, brilliant, incredibly ambitious, and is already an asset to Velvet and Vinyl. Read on to learn more about her keen eye for style and her passion for writing.

LB: Tell me a brief synopsis of your journey in life thus far.

ME: I was born in Connecticut and moved to Oregon at age seven. I’m now a journalist pursuing dreams in the magazine industry all while trying to make it back to the east coast.

LB: Complete the following sentence. My favorite piece of clothing in your wardrobe is:

ME: My black, ripped, skinny jeans.

LB: Complete the following sentence. The soundtrack to my life is:

ME: Work by Rihanna.

LB: Why fashion?

ME: Nothing has made me so passionate, angry, amazed and intrigued as much as fashion has. Fashion isn’t just an expression or a form of art, it’s all of that mixed into one medium. It pulls inspiration from architecture, music, paintings, emotions, and people; I can’t think of anything more comprehensive.

LB: Tell me about your dreams.

ME: I want to travel and tell people’s stories in a way that they haven’t been told before. I also aspire to write for the living section of Vogue.com

LB: What challenge defines your story? In what ways have you learned from it?

ME: Losing my dad when I was seven. I’ve learned a lot being raised by one parent. I think it’s important to realize that adversity and hardships can’t stop you. As cheesy as that sounds, it’s so important to get out there and make things happen despite the shit that happens to you.

LB: If your sense of style could share a message with the world, what would it be?

ME: Black is ALWAYS the new black.

LB: What are your favorite things?

ME: My favorite font, Avenir Book, a minimalist sense of style, pots of gold and rainbows ice cream from Salt & Straw and my favorite magazines! Aka Vogue, Suitcase, Kinfolk and Cereal

We are so excited to have Melissa on our team! Stay tuned for more.
